Bottles only

Hi guys, I am a new part of this team (if you don’t mind me calling myself as one) and want to say big THANKS for all what you are doing here! It is amazing that people from all over the world can come together and work on such a project.

Here is the question:

If I understood it right, you are mostly concerned about plastic bottles and small plastic waste, mostly produced by homes. My father was running the company and was recycling the old electronics. He started it when I was 14 and I was one of the very first people who started with him, so I was pretty into it. The biggest concern of the company was, obviously, the metals. After the company expanded and we started putting through bigger numbers, we noticed that metals are not the problem, because the are easily re-used. Plastic is the problem. We started thinking about various ways how to recycle, reuse it. Was very hard to start working on a big project without financial resources and later, his health did not allow him to continue and, unfortunatelly, I was still too young to take over the company.

The point of the story, I really want to continue in what he had started. There are bigger chunks of plastic which also need to be recycled, reused. So I would like to kindly ask for help with creating a bigger machines (probably only the shredder) which can cut not just plastic bottles, but stuff like kettles and other parts of appliances etc.

Do you think that I only need to “double-up” your current shredder? If I am missing something, please feel free to correct me or add some info. Really appreciate any help.

The machines work best with not too big parts. What we do is wrap big parts in cloth and smash them (hammer or feet) into smaller parts to start shredding.
Big recycle companies furst use machines to shred them in medium sized parts and then shred them with machines, like in this project, into flakes.
So only making the shredder bigger is not really the way to go. More to make something to get medium sized pieces and then shred it.

Hope i helped a bit,
