Could Someone Give me Advice on Selecting Durable Plastic Materials for Outdoor Applications?

Hello there,

I am working on a project that involves designing and manufacturing outdoor furniture; and I am hoping to get some insights from the community here regarding the best plastic materials for this purpose.

The furniture pieces will be exposed to various environmental conditions; including direct sunlight; rain; and fluctuating temperatures.

I have been researching different types of plastics; but I am still uncertain about which ones would offer the best combination of durability; UV resistance; and cost effectiveness.

Which plastic material do you recommend for outdoor furniture that needs to withstand harsh weather conditions? How do these materials fare in terms of long-term UV resistance and color retention?

Are there any particular treatments or coatings that can enhance the durability and lifespan of these plastics when used outdoors? From a manufacturing standpoint; which of these materials is easier to work with in terms of molding and shaping?

Also; I have gone through this post; https://forum.osr-plastic.org/t/soft-plastic-recycling-research-and-feasibility-ccsp/ which definitely helped me out a lot.

Thank you in advance for your help and assistance.

Hi there,

welcome to OSR-Plastic. To my recollection, all plastic types are affected by UV. Its a common problem. Perhaps there are additives.
