I had a presentation of the injection machine to do for a festival happening in an ecofriendly farm this month. I tried to think about a product fitting with this topic and i told myself: Why not to do some egg-cups ?
The mold is made from casted aluminium in foundry sand. all the patterns are done with polypropylene, mixing different colors.
@timslab, Yes i did a topic called Aluminum Melting in “research about plastic”.
Casted aluminium especially is interesting because it is a super cheap way to get a mold! Compared to a CNC process it’s a lot of time to get it but i think you can get some shape with foundry you couldn’t get with CNC machine. At the end your object really looks handicraft made, that can be a quality, or not !
Great work on that mold @tafnstuff… While not ideal, that flashing looks pretty epic as is. Do you reckon cast aluminium is a viable material for further molds?
Have I missed a topic on the mold?
