Hello everyone,

I have been researching innovative ways to tackle the growing issue of plastic waste & I came across some interesting advancements in the field of AI that might be relevant. I want to know about how new technologies can help optimize waste management processes & contribute to more efficient recycling systems.

Has anyone here looked into how AI might be used in sorting or processing plastic waste? I have read about application in material identification & automatd sorting but I wonder if there are any ongoing projects or research that focus on these areas; Also I have come across the concept of Generative AI in various fields & I am wondering if theres any potential for this technology to assist in waste reduction or design of more sustainable materials.

Would love to hear your thoughts or learn about any projects that are integrating AI in creative ways to address plastic waste.

Hi, sorting is already handled well via laser & conveyor belts, or robots. More challenging is to find suitable products in compliance with regulations as REACH whilst keeping energy and labor footprint low.

There are efforts to deal with documentation and design, first things first :slight_smile: Please come back mid 2025.

There’s “distll.ai”, a research bot creating reports via email, useful to stay in the loop.
