Lets piggy back established organizations! We could enroll international organizations that are already established in helping communities world wide. Setting up recycle centers could provide small employment for areas of deep poverty where humans are sadly surviving by trash dumps. There are international clubs & churches that may provide locations & management to assist in using this grassroots technology to expand more use of collection & recycling of plastic.
I am not a machinist and do not know costs to do a spreadsheet, but if I had this info I would do the work of making & presenting proposals. Here is where I would start:
Hi Andrea! It sounds great, even though the machines are easy to build and low cost there are indeed other associated costs like a piece of ground and a storage/working space. Besides of this one needs to have electricity, water, storage system etc… these costs vary from country to country and in order to have all this up and running often we need to ask for financial support. It would be great to have such templates we could fill in and share across the network. I am in Cape Verde and I am not even sure if I will be able to find all the parts for the machines, nothing is produced here, everything comes from abroad… also the water and electricity prices are ridiculous and all this needs to be taken into consideration.

I think it’s not there yet. From what I am reading the designs are still in the works. I love the idea but how to promote it is the path. When I get some designs, costs & outlines I can move further.
I was wondering if people who live by the ocean can wash the plastic collected, in salt water?
Also there are people trying to figure how to make hand cranks. So one could use a bicycle to run the chopper.
But ultimately it would need electricity to melt & mold. I am not a mechanic so all this is hard to figure out to draw up proposals. I just think this would help in areas that are off the beaten track to clean up their beaches and make useful things.
It feels disorganized. Im trying to get answers but I realize we are all just figuring it out.
Any specific ideas appreciated. Writers? I can do that. I need clear answers before I can make proposals to organizations that work in poverty stricken communities. I like what Dave did in Kenya!

where are you looking to get the quotes from? because I am sure the machining costs will vary from country to country unless you “employ” a machinist team…. that would be good to set up!
