Idea for plastic bags

I just had the idea of using big bags, tarps and so on to make reusable plastic bags, with similar result of the ones made by the PP team: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pp4vmfVlm2k
but with a different starting point.
If there is any questions feel free to ask them and i will do my best to answer them

Well if you could just tell what your idea is, it would maybe help someone? I’m searching for all the ideas there are to recycle plastic bags, so I’m interested in your idea for a ‘different starting point’!

Hi! My avatar shows one of the bags I have for sale on Etsy. They are made from crocheted plastic grocery and frozen food bags (Plarn), Mylar balloons and VCR/cassette tape. Some have reclaimed wood or homegrown bamboo handles. I use recycled sari cloth for linings in some of my handbags.
I have a crocheted bag made of only plastic grocery bags that has been in constant use for eight years without breaking, scuffing or tearing. It can look like straw, but wears like iron.
I used to work at various landfills and was always appalled at how much plastic was filling the cells. There will come a time when landfills will be mined for the traces of resources they contain. The plastic will continue to be the chaff in the mix, still looking they way it did on the day it was buried.

The purses look pretty good 🙂
what fabric do you use for the unicolored inner face ?

@clementhempel yeah that makes sense. But I have to say that it is sometimes easier to use old plastic bags, because then you’re sure that’s the same material! Sometimes I really don’t know wheter different sheets of plastic are made from the same material. Do you have any tips for that?

@susanne0570 my idea is to weld the sheets together to make plastic bags, but using tarps and similar large sheets of plastic instead of old plastic bags, as there is not really a point in reusing something that still has some life left in it

These purses look great! What is the inside made of? Because it does not seem to be plastic!

Hi! I was using similar technique to make these REPLASTICO purses! Great way to recycle plastic bags to useful products! Get in touch if you have any questions.
