Intermittent Voltage Drops in Custom PCB Circuit

Hello

I have been working on a custom PCB for a project but I’m experiencing intermittent voltage drops across certain components. The issue occurs randomly; causing occasional resets / malfunctions in my circuit. :upside_down_face:

I’ve checked for cold solder joints & loose connections, but everything seems intact. The problem is more noticeable when the circuit draws higher current, but it’s inconsistent, making troubleshooting difficult. :innocent:

Could this be due to an issue with the power traces; inadequate capacitor placement, or something else I might be overlooking?

I’m using a linear regulator with decoupling capacitors, but I’m wondering if a switch to a buck converter or additional filtering might help stabilize the voltage. If anyone has encountered similar behavior, I’d appreciate insights on debugging this kind of issue.

Checked guide on best practices for PCB power distribution and mitigating voltage dropsCISSP Training related to this and found it quite informative.

Any tips on using an oscilloscope or multimeter to pinpoint the exact cause would also be helpful. Thanks!

Thank you !! :slightly_smiling_face:
