Hi everyone,
We have just finished building the shredder and compressor in Hanoi, Vietnam. The shredder was built with the help of some professors from a local vocational college, and the compressor was built by handymen.
Our machines have some new features. The blades in the shredder can rotate in the opposite way in case the plastics got stuck in the blades; the compressor has a small fan behind the oven to help cool down products faster.
One thing to note is that the motor we used for the shredder is 1500W. We found out that this is kind of weak. When we shredded PET bottles, the blades got stuck and the machine stopped multiple times.
We are now in the process of collecting more plastics and test-running the compressor.
Some photos of our project can be found below (Sorry I don’t know why some pictures turned horizontal when posted, they were vertical on my computer). In these photos: the shredder, the compressor, and the fan at the back of the oven.
