What types of plastic would allow a slightly rubbery consistency so that the rings of a six pack beer holder would expand/contract so that it will “grip” the beer cans?
Ideally the plastic would be more durable than the regular disposable ones so that it wouldn’t easily tear, and instead could be reused and you could easily pop cans in and out of the rings without it degrading quickly.
Is this possible? Has anyone done anything similar?
@lukeryberg25, just re-designing it to be more durable won’t solve the problem of it being thrown away after one use.
As I see, the only logical and sustainable enough solution would be to make it out of a material, that would degrade quickly, something like a seaweed based material (will not call it plastic). It should not only degrade quickly, but degrade into some sort of nutrients, otherwise it will still be pollution.
I agree with you that biodegradable is the way to go, but couldn’t you say that everything disposable should be made out of biodegradable material ideally? With that logic everything the machines are making isn’t sustainable, right?
