Hi Guys
I recently made a turning knob for my laptop!
Now I can easily change the volume of my music,
I can move pictures super precise and
keep scrolling foreverrrrrr

From scrap shampoo bottles to a stylish, functional addition to my desk!
– The base is from HDPE
– Top part is aluminuim
– Light is a 16xled NeoPixel ring
– Board is a digispark
You can connect it any computer and it automatically installs as a keyboard!
For now it has 3 modes, you can easily change them for and combination of keyboard shortcuts
1. I used a simple beer can as a initial mould for to melt the plastic in
2. Turned the result to dimension
3. Turned the other parts
3. Added the electronics (scematics should be online in a week)
4. Uploaded the code (should also be online in a week)
5. Enjoy my creation!
Hi @andyn, Sharp eye!
The solid aluminum block on top gives it already some weight, but you are right, I did put a rubber ring underneath the HDPE part.
I applied it with double sided tape
Nice! And very simple process that can be easily replicated. Is is heavy enough to stay put on the desk or did you use eg. rubber feet underneath? HDPE is quite slidey.
