@brentzdentz The process you mention is called “Plastic pyrolysis”, there are plenty of videos about it and the technology involved is old and very well known. The reason why pyrolysis is not involved in the Precious Plastic project, is because building a functional pyrolysis facility is very costly, and contaminant as well. Pyrolysis doesn’t give you a 100% convertion ratio. Those people you see in youtube cooking plastic in rustic boilers and obtaining a few ounces of oil, are generating lots of contaminant gases plus residual plastic waste that cannot be recycled along traditional plastic.

You should check out these two tiny machines that convert plastic trash to oil and refine it into gas, diesel and kerosene . It looks like they would be a perfect fit in a Workspace, and probably elimate the other machines from our project. One main benefit is the plastic is removed from the planet, compared to just changing its form and placing it right back where it is capable of ending up back in a trash heap . Also, the finish product is in high demand. I wonder how much they cost. Please log into our Pavones Recycle group and check out the video. I tried posting a direct link ,but every time I clicked add link at end it would give me a blank screen. I lost it four or five times trying. Look forward to hearing your thoughts on this. Thanks
