Need some advice on use of polyolefin plastic. researching I see it is related to HDPE chemically, however this is a foam.
I have shredded it to small particle size which also removed quite a lot of the air. However I need a end use for the product.
Client has a warehouse 1000 square meters, and piled aprox 1-2 meters tall full of scrap foam.
the original idea was to make pillows and upholstery filling, but the mass of plastic has grown as they delayed getting a Precious Plastic shredder as the wood chipper they used previously was not working well.
Plastic alloy with PET and extrude beams for furniture.
Attempt to extrude into beams by itself.
shred and use as substitute for asphalt bitumen.
shred and attempt to fuse into sheets for use as house insulation. (win win, save energy usage)
use as filler with urethane foam, then cut into boards for house insulation.
shred and use similar to blow in fiberglass insulation
re-process back into oil is not a option as the local environment regulators are luddite and will not consider this without years of useless talking.
update, I have aprox 15,000 cubic meters of this material to recycle.

I guess the only way to find out is to build another extrusion machine and try it.
I got the big industrial extrusion here but It is marked for sale not for use, so I will build another one.
Client has suggested that I set up my extrusion in his factory and we do a profit share if we can make the beams work from it. There is also a large amount of HDPE bags which I shredded in the 2x sized Precious Plastic shredder the other day.
Mix with sand to try to create building materials?
If only to build a second warehouse until somebody has a real solution

Polyolefin is just the category which regroups mainly PE & PP, so it includes LLDPE, LDPE, HDPE & PP

A polyolefin is a type of polymer produced from a simple olefin (also called an alkene with the general formula CnH2n) as a monomer. For example, polyethylene is the polyolefin produced by polymerizing the olefin ethylene. Polypropylene is another common polyolefin which is made from the olefin propylene.
So my guess is that it’s not a good idea to alloy it with PET…
