In Poverty stricken areas… blue barrels could be cut down, heat reformed into sheets and used for roofing or wall cover.
reMolding it with a small heat gun is SLOW… using the “old oven” remade into a press inside, put two ducts in, one to blow in, one a flattened “nozzle” to spread the air out and pass the sheet under the nozzle. it will soon relax and go flat.
HEAT control, using the captive “bulb” thermostat in a oven is not as cool as a digital “chinese” PID control, but it can control the heat within 2 degrees, lots of grandmas cooked cookies and cakes with them. I think it could control close enough for plastic.
A smaller form could be made to redo 5 gallon buckets.
Nice idea and I guess we need some more to fight plastic trash in these areas. I also thought about an solution for all the old plastics in the landmills (at the Philippines), but I´m not sure, if the Precious Plastics – machines can handle it. Do you have any experience with old plastic trash?
Just as a old gadget maker… I have a 5’x5x4′ powdercoat oven near completed, small oven I extended in length to do parts, cut a hole in top to blow air through, or use as a immersion for a heat barrel for extruder. see me on twitter.
