Two Point Load testing on Plastic Beam

So we made the beam from HDPE Recycled granules at @samsara Recycling in Chennai, (India). Where they have all the four precious plastic machines and they allowed us to use for our research purposes.
We made this beam from the extrusion machine and here are some of the lab tests that we performed in our civil engineering lab.
We did the two point loading, and it didnt take the load at the point of the applications and failed instantly while applying 1kN and we saw 11mm of deflection before the fracture. You can see the type of fracture and the details on the face.

Nice! Always good to have real test data.

3 point bend test is best for plastics usually. Another one that would be huge for Precious Plastics and myself is a shear test. Look at how much force it takes to shear the plastic. We can use that in our calculations for shredder for force needed in shredder. also torsion test would also be nice. and mabye even iziod inpact test. but with that machine i think that shear test would be best.
