Using a heat press to form plastic bag fabric

I’m interested in recycling single-use plastic bags, and I sew, so wanted to make multi-use shopping totes out of them (and perhaps other items).  To make the plastic bags into a ‘fabric’ with an iron is slow and unpredictable.  Has anyone used a T-shirt type heat press to melt plastic bags flat?  I think it would work, but don’t want to invest in a heat press without some notion that it would be successful.

I seen several examples of what you are describing.

We will be trying soon here at Precious Plastic Philippines a new idea with a iron.
