Washing machine development

Hi everyone!

Something has begun washing plastic machine construction? i would like to see some prototypes to inspire me.

I saw the videos and i´m looking for the best way to washing plastic and dry it.

Gretting for all!

How about this?

Great idea @mind-art-nl, thanks a lot!

After shredding the plastic you can wash it in wash bags in the washing machine without losing the particles.  https://www.amazon.co.uk/Eono-Essentials-Mesh-Laundry-Bags/dp/B07CV8R7XR/ref=sxin_6_ac_d_rm?ac_md=0-0-d2FzaCBiYWcgZm9yIHdhc2hpbmcgbWFjaGluZQ%3D%3D-ac_d_rm&keywords=wash+bag+for+washing+machine&pd_rd_i=B07CV8R7XR&pd_rd_r=57cbf405-5191-410e-8c3a-2088b84ca568&pd_rd_w=gago2&pd_rd_wg=E8ntm&pf_rd_p=56545653-8f41-4d75-8e9e-a9a74434f65c&pf_rd_r=5E9PE3GV9CM64NZ7DDJD&psc=1&qid=1570296596

You can buy one OR make one yourself from mesh fabric. There are lots of tutorials online on how to make them. 🙂

I hope this might help some people along the way with cleaning them.

Hey there 🙂

I am wondering if it’s possible using grey water for cleaning the plastic or maybe sea water? or will have that a bigger influence on the quality of melting the plastic?

I’m just searching for a possibiliy to reduce the amount of water for the cleaning process.

Looking forward to read from your experiences and your ideas.

all the best

@jeanmi you may try caustic soda. It may not be the best option for environment but it is going to be best result for cleaning.

Hi all, was there not an old video from Dave where he shows one or two washing machine prototypes?

No, I said that it was a joke to make the topic work a little

As Coluche said in a television show and the reply he always said is to advance the schmilblick

@jeanmi now that you mention it, I never thought about the posibility of someone washing recycled plastic with the same washing machine where you wash your clothes 😛
Ideally, you would get an old-second-hand-cheap washing machine and use it only for this purpose.

Thank you for your answer because I would not want that mayonnaise remains of mustard ketchup stick to the walls of the washing machine and then wash the laundry madam will not agree lol I will risk the divorce

@jeanmi just water, there’s no need to add any detergent. If the plastic contains any oil residues then you can use a little cloth detergent (regular detergent) and/or use hot water to facilitate the removal of any dirt

which detergent used for cleaning the plastic thank you

Im currently washing collected plastic items and storing them (no shredder as yet). When I have a shredder up and running I’ll be washing and drying the plastic before shredding. when shredding plastic micro practicals can sometime also be produced therefore washing the shredded plastic you’ll be washing the them down the drain….

A washing machine of any size will do the job perfectly, the only thing that you need to consider is that if you plan to wash shredded plastic, then you should not use drum washing machines, otherwise the plastic shreds will go through the drum holes and the washing machine will eventually clog.

Plastic should be washed either entire or cut into chunks big enough so they don’t go through the drum holes

I was thinking on this to, and the use of an old washing mashine. Like the one on the images, this type you can remove and use the motor, electronic and the drum.

Well in the video the machine does exactly what a washing machine at home does. How about using an adapted old washing machine for washing and drying plastic 🙂

Very cool but so industrial to me 🙂 thanks!
