After the hat I thought about making a big basket.
It seems a good idea to make a metal frame-work to weave trough.
For this bad-boy I used 4mm coppery round bar, welded together in the middle.

The beginning was a bit hard. Despite I took the thinest plastic wire the filament extruder gave me, the wire seems too stiff for the first rounds. Later in the process thicker wire was much nicer to work with. The ticker, the better actually!
Unfortunately that was the only weaving project.
For the materials you can use all kind of stuff. The PP/PS was quite stiff and especially the start was hard. The thinner your wire, the easier the weaving.
Would say that PET also could work well.
I would take thinner iron wire the next time. Like the baskets from the movie above. Nice details.

Wow, this is such a beautiful idea, and it seems relatively simple without large machines.
I wonder if you could waste even less by using a flat iron (for hair) to try and get the end of the plastic cord to bond to itself without having to tie it.
Also, using that technique in the video I can see this technique easily conquer the difficulty of always having short lengths of material to work with.
All of your projects are so amazing and beautiful.
I feel like I need to take up basketweaving now.

I am currently in Beirut, in a recycling company. We want to start using extrusion for weaving baskets and containers. Which plastic will you recommend us to use, to get the best flexibility for weaving?

I used the extrusion machine of Dave. We share our workshop, that’s why 
Your project sounds cool. Could be a awesome addition on local crafts.

Hello Pim, very nice product! How much did it take to do the weaving? I wonder if you have the Extrusion machine and could I see yours before I start building? By your name I guess you are living in the Netherlands as well? I started a social project in Guatemala. It would be great if I can give the local community the tools to directly develop the plastic themselves from 100% recycled plastic out of nature. Thank you in advance for your reply. Nice! If I may ask, do you extrude a continuous piece and cut that to size while weaving?
Ones I was done with the plastic wire, I wove the round-bars trough the remaining “ribs” to have a nice and firm finished edge. The first bars were quite easy to weave, ones halfway it became tough… Especially the final ones were almost impossible. Slightly thinner bars should make it much easier. Something to keep in mind for the next time
