Wind Oil machine

I came here to find more about plastic recycling, but also that ingenious wind oil mashine. I make my own soaps and un-petroleum jellies from scratch. It would be just … the top to make it from home made oils as well. Are the blueprints for it anywhere to be had.

PS This is just a great initiative. I am even smalle based, just ma and my kitchen table as workspace, no fancy machines, only hand tools. It will take me some time to get into plastic moulding, but it ‘will* happen!

@uglemor what’s a wind oil machine (sorry I’m new here)

Also how do ya make un-petroleum jellies I’m intrigued

Hi,
Im also looking to create a wind oil machine. I have looked everywhere and have seen the video but it does not contain any information help make one.

As most of this is open source, are they anywhere else?

@cobhlanger Yes I use olive oil mostly, also coconut. I let herbs (Calendula, comfrey roots … ) steep in the oil for long time for good healing properties. I’d like to experiment more, but unusual oils are very expensive – or unobtainanle even.

@12much
It’s not the nuts, seeds or whatever that’s my problem. It’s the lack of unusual oils, or indeed the wish to be making my own. I have several ideas and forests nearby.
Like the extruder you say. Hmm. Not for the first time I wish for a tool shop. I could make do with a hand driven prototype. Putting on my Thinking cap.

Hey Charlotte

It is mainly the same machine as the extruder. Different nozzle and no heating elements. It would we easier to extract the oil when heating the nose a little but you can manage that even with a small part of the extracted oil in an oillamp. So the plans are partially on hand.
There are several plans to find to build a windmill like that one with wings made from recycled pvc pipes which you can gain for free If you ask in a store who installs waterworks and water waistpipes in domestic houses.

These are easy to make at home with basic tools. The parts to fit everything togheter can be made in a Fablab on a 3 D printer. Don’t know where you’re house lives in Denmark but there are several in you’re country. I know the people from Næstved they are very nice and love to help you, I’m sure. Tell them i send you there.

There is also a beautyfull one in Valby Kulturhaus that is open 24/7 and is community driven.

We build these kind of windmills (only 4 wings) with children to build a wind driven alternator to load their batteries of whatever kind.

Tip 2

Nuts are really expensive in Holland like Dave says because of the hype of super foods but look out for big pet and animal stores. You can find 25 kg bags or even bigger with linseed, grains, nuts and all kinds of seeds which are used for animal food.

Tip 3

In Denmark do live a lot of muslim people. Look out for their bakeries and supermarkets. Talk with the owners and ask for big 25kg bags before they are packaged into smaller amounts. The packaging costs are huge, so you’ll be surprised what you can achieve If you ask them for it. That is also the case in Holland.

Thanks @jegor-m That’s so simple yet so brilliant!

That’s a really cool and clever business venture you have @uglemor. I wish I’d even thought of un-petroleum jellies when my daughter was in nappies i dont like petroleum jellies but it was needed.

What type of oil do ya use? Vegetable oil? Olive oil?

Yes, that’s what I want to make, but I’m not that machine-sawwy to make one fro a video 😉 Un-petroleu m jelly is a vegetable version of pertoleum jelly. Basicall it is bees’ wax and oil (1 part wax to 4 parts oil) melted stirred and left to set. Used against dry skin, chapped lips ect especially in winter.
Nuts migth be expensive, but I grow some and I would like to experiment with different types of oils. Would be good not to be limited to what the shops want to sell.
Picture of different un-petroleum jellies. The difference is in the herbs, I let steep in the oils.
I could go on teling about it for a long time… stopping here

@cobhlanger

Check the video by Dave himself.

He said the main limitation here would be sourcing the nuts, as they are kinda expensive in the Netherlands.
